Predicament bondage is a bondage in which the submissive must choose between uncomfortable options. It is the art of restraining a person by bondage in such a way that there is a limited number of positions in which they can be, each of which are so uncomfortable that they are forced to shift their weight or position. Upon doing so, they place themselves in the other equally uncomfortable position.
Typical predicament bondage examples:
- Causing muscle fatigue, such as standing on tiptoe (e.g. by tying their hands, breasts or hair to an upper point), which forces the subject to choose a more physically painful position, for example letting themselves lower their weight and stand regularly while forcing a rope attached to their genitals to pull taut and cause pain.
- When a subject is tied in such a position so that remaining still will not cause any discomfort, but moving their body will pull on ropes, weights or other devices meant to cause them pain.
- The subject could be tickled, sexually pleasured or otherwise enticed to move uncontrollably in their predicament.
- Forcing the subject to a hunched position by tying their genitals or thighs to a lower point; both of which will become uncomfortable in a brief time - but they are faced with pain if they try to fix their posture.
There can be safety issues with predicament bondage. The top not only needs to consider the predicament itself, but also a quick release should the captive faint or become too weak to support themselves.
